Máximo Quiles was the winner of the Moto3 Brazilian GP in Goiânia. In the hot morning race this Sunday (22), the competitor took advantage of the moment’s leader’s accident, took the lead, controlled the pace and not even the red flag took away his triumph.

Marco Morelli crossed the finish line in second place, with Veda Pratama completing the podium of the day at Autódromo Ayrton Senna.
David Almansa had a difficult weekend. Championship leader, he started in 14th, came to lead the Moto3 race in Goiânia, but crashed and abandoned the competition.

For the first race of the day, the heat reigned in Goiânia once again. The thermometer was over 30ºC, despite the sky being more overcast than in Saturday’s activities.
Joel Esteban, from LevelUp, lined up from pole position for the race at Autódromo Ayrton Senna. Closing the first row were Valentin Perrone and Haim Danish. David Almansa, the first place in qualifying, lines up only in 14th.
The start was given and Esteban tried to maintain the first position of the race, but ended up leaving the door open and allowed the overtake on top of Perrone. Meanwhile, Marco Morelli, who started from fifth, was already in second position still on the first lap – with that, there were two Argentines in the first two positions.
The fight for the first places was quite exciting. At the opening of the second lap, Morelli was in first, followed by Danish, Perrone, Almansa and Máximo Quiles completing the top five positions.
Between first and sixth place, the competitors were separated by just over 0s5. In that, on the third lap, Quiles took first place, with Perroni in second and Morelli dropping only to third place.
Esteban, who started from pole position, plummeted to sixth place and at that moment, a yellow flag in sector three due to a heavy crash by Leo Rammerstorfer.
Quiles returns to first place, with Perroni, Almansa, Morelli and Danish completing the top five positions. But that didn’t last long, as the championship leader took first place even after starting from the middle of the field – with that, five different leaders since the start.
Between first place and eighth, the drivers were all within the same second. Between first and second, things were quite close with less than 0s2 separating Almansa and Quiles.
Esteban, who had fallen out of the top-5, appeared already in third place on lap 7. However, the competitor suffered a highside, took a heavy crash when seeking second place and abandoned, bringing a yellow flag located in sector 2.

With 16 laps to the checkered flag, Almansa, first, and Quiles, second, were in an isolated race, as they had opened more than 1s to the rest of the field.
The dispute for first place was quite strong. At the opening of lap 11, Quiles pulled alongside Almansa and the duo almost touched, but the Spaniard managed to hold off his opponent to seek victory in front of the Brazilian crowd.
Almansa was in first, followed by Quiles, Perroni, Morelli and Adrián Fernández completing the top five positions.
And a huge turnaround with 11 laps to the end of the race. David, leader of the race and the championship, took a tumble when losing grip on the bike, abandoning the race – the competitor managed to get up on his own from the scene. With that, Máximo took the lead of the field with more than 3s5 advantage over the rest.
Then, on lap 15 of 24 scheduled, a red flag was necessary due to a crash by Scott Ogden. When the race stopped, race control indicated that the race would be restarted as it had not reached 2/3.
Shortly after, came the information that the race would be restarted based on the classification of lap 14 and would have five more until the checkered flag.
On the restart, Quiles would be the one to start in first, but without the truck load of advantage he had sustained.
Race restarted for the last five laps in Goiânia and Quiles managed to maintain first place, with Fernández and Pini closing the top-3 at the moment, but soon Álvaro Carpe took the lowest step of the podium. Further back, Jesús Rios ended up going to the ground.
While Quilmes once again tried to open an advantage at the front of the field, Fernández was in second, but holding the pressure imposed by Carpes.
Then, with three laps to go, Morelli had lost the pace, but managed to gain ground and emerged in second place, 0s766 from the leader – he was the one who gained the most positions in the race.
Máximo held on as best he could in the lead of the race, but Marco stuck closer and closer to his opponent’s rear. On the last lap, the two were separated by less than 0s5. Behind, Carpe was third, but ended up overtaken by Pratama.
