The 20-year-old is on track to be the 2026 season champion. If he achieves this feat, since he has an 81-point lead over second-placed George Russell, he will break the record for the youngest champion in history, currently held by the German four-time world champion – in 2010, he was 23 years and four months old.


Speaking about the former Formula 1 driver, the Mercedes driver then talked about the messages they exchange and how Vettel has shown support throughout his title campaign. “It’s great. Seb is amazing. He is my friend,” said the Italian.

“He always sends messages after each race weekend, or even before some of them. It’s very nice to see so much support and recognition from him. Without a doubt, I’m very happy to receive his messages and, for sure, they make a difference, whether before or after the race weekend,” he added.
