Filip Salac was the fastest rider on Friday (18) during free practice for the Austrian GP, the 15th round of the 2026 Moto2 season. In the last of the two sessions of the day at the Red Bull Ring, the American Racing Team rider recorded his best lap at 1min32s402, not being surpassed by rivals and securing a direct spot in Q2 of the qualifying.

Second place went to Ivan Ortolá, an MSI rider who was 0.097 seconds behind Salac. Daniel Holgado, riding a CFMOTO bike, finished the day with the third-best time, followed by Tony Arbolino, fourth with Fantic Racing. The top five was completed by Izán Guevara, riding a Pramac bike.
David Alonso, a CFMOTO rider, ended the day in sixth place, while Alex Escrig, representing KLINT, recorded the seventh-best time this Friday. Championship leader Manuel González was eighth with Intact GP, ahead of Celestino Vietti, ninth with SpeedRS. The top 10 was completed by Alonso López, from Gresini.

Besides the ten riders mentioned, the Q2 qualifying session scheduled for this morning will include four other riders. Mario Aji was 11th with Team Asia, while Senna Agius, riding an Intact GP bike, recorded the 12th time. David Muñoz, from Italtrans, was 13th, while José Antonio Rueda, riding an Ajo bike, completed the list of qualifiers with the 14th time.
Moto2 continues its schedule this Saturday (19), first with a free practice at 4:25 AM, followed by qualifying starting at 8:40 AM. The Austrian GP will be held on Sunday at 7:15 AM.
