The arrival of four Hyundai Elantra N TCRs in Argentina reinforces the expectation for one of the most relevant seasons in the history of TCR South America, which completes five years of existence in 2026. The cars, which came from Europe, are now undergoing initial work at the Hyundai MSA workshop, located in the southern zone of Buenos Aires.

The Korean manufacturer’s official team is the main novelty of the championship this year. With its entry, the grid now features seven brands: Cupra, Audi, Honda, Toyota, Peugeot, Lynk & Co. and Hyundai. The manufacturer becomes the second to officially participate in the competition — Honda paved the way last year and won the driver, team, and Trophy Cup titles.
The new models follow the category’s global technical regulations, with WSC Group homologation. Equipped with a turbo engine of around 350 horsepower and a six-speed X-trac automatic sequential gearbox with paddle shifts on the steering wheel, the Elantra N TCRs are of the same specification used in international championships such as TCR Europe, IMSA, TCR Asia and the FIA TCR World Tour.
Before the official debut, Hyundai MSA will have its first contact with the track in the collective pre-season tests, scheduled for the coming weeks. The competitive debut is set for March 7 and 8, in Curvelo (MG), a round that will simultaneously open the 2026 seasons of TCR South America Banco BRB and TCR Brasil Banco BRB.

In the driver lineup, the first confirmed name is Argentine Diego Ciantini, who has experience in national motorsport. The other members of the lineup will be announced soon. The director of Hyundai MSA, Damián Fineschi, highlighted the start of the work and the level of the challenge ahead:
“It was a long day for us and I can’t wait to start getting to know the Hyundai Elantra N TCRs to the fullest. We have a challenging season ahead in a category that has been growing and is facing its most competitive year. We are happy with the group we have formed and to have these state-of-the-art cars, which have won three of the last five world championships in the FIA TCR World Tour. The excuses are over, it’s time to roll up our sleeves to have a successful season with Hyundai MSA.”
