The 2026 TCR South America season continues to take shape, and Uruguay Racing Team has officially announced who will be behind the wheel of one of its cars: Uruguayan Enrique Maglione will defend the team throughout the championship, driving a Peugeot 308 GTI TCR. The confirmation comes on the eve of the first round of the calendar, scheduled for March 7 and 8, in Curvelo. With the signing, the structure completes an all-Uruguayan lineup for the continental competition.

Maglione returns to the category after an absence in 2025. Present in all previous seasons since the championship’s creation, the driver debuted in 2021 with a Hyundai Elantra N. The following year, he competed with a Peugeot 308 GTI TCR from PMO Racing and, later, took the wheel of a Honda Civic Type R FK7 in the 2023 and 2024 editions.
It was precisely in 2024 that the Uruguayan achieved his greatest feat in the competition: the Trophy Cup title. Throughout his career in TCR South America, he has 51 races contested. His best result in the overall standings was a second place achieved at the El Pinar round in 2022.

At 57 years old, Maglione faces another challenge in one of the most competitive touring platforms on the continent, supported by a model that has already shown strength in the championship. The 308 GTI TCR, developed under WSC homologation, is among the cars with the highest number of participations in the category’s history. In 2025, Peugeot accumulated victories with Pedro Cardoso at the wheel, after reaching its peak in 2024 with the driver’s championship title won by the Brazilian.
