Brazilian Rafael Câmara secured pole position on the morning of this Friday (3) for the seventh round of Formula 2. In the qualifying session held at the Silverstone circuit in England, the Invicta Racing driver recorded his best lap time of 1min39s690, surpassing his rivals to claim the top spot for the third time this year and earn two more points in the championship.

Câmara had already shown strength in the only free practice of the day, finishing in second place, less than a tenth away from the best time. In qualifying, the Brazilian, who is also part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, took advantage of the final half of the session to set his best time, beating the second-placed driver by two tenths to secure pole position for Sunday’s race.
“I felt the lap was good. We were already ahead in free practice, I was feeling good with the car even doing the second lap on the first outing to the track. I knew we had a chance to fight. So I’m very happy, it was a good lap. I think everything was in place and, for sure, it’s a good position to start on Sunday. Tomorrow things will be interesting and we will try our best,” said Rafael Câmara right after qualifying.

Current Formula 3 champion, Câmara is in third place in the championship after six rounds. The Brazilian now has 84 points, and in addition to three pole positions, he has one win and three podiums in his debut year in the main feeder category to Formula 1.
The Formula 2 schedule continues this Saturday with the Sprint race, scheduled for 9:45 AM. Sunday will feature the main race, starting at 7:15 AM. Sportv, Globoplay, and F1TV will broadcast the races live.
