Gabriele Mini won the Sprint race this Saturday (25), valid for the ninth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary. The MP Motorsport driver, who is second in the championship, dueled with Sebastian Montoya and took the lead on the 17th of 28 laps, securing the victory.

Second place went to Dino Beganovic, the DAMS driver who couldn’t keep up with Mini’s pace, finishing more than three seconds behind the winner. The podium also featured Laurens van Hoepen, third with Trident after fending off Rafael Câmara, who finished fourth after starting ninth with Invicta Racing.
Kush Maini, from ART Grand Prix, finished the race in fifth place, followed by his teammate, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, in sixth. Joshua Durksen, from Invicta Racing, was seventh, finishing ahead of Martinius Stenshorne, who completed the points zone in eighth place with Rodin Motorsport. Emmo Fittipaldi was 20th with AIX Racing.

Championship leader Nikola Tsolov retired from the race after being involved in an accident with Sebastian Montoya while trying to move into second place. The two collided after the Campos Racing Bulgarian attempted an overtake, causing both to retire and triggering the Virtual Safety Car.
The Hungarian round of Formula 2 will conclude this Sunday (26) with the main race, which starts at 6:25 AM.
