The Germans have been the team to beat so far in the championship. Of the ten races contested so far, they have won no less than eight, six with Kimi Antonelli and two with George Russell – the other two triumphs went to Ferrari.
So, at the Hungaroring, when Resta was asked how much Mercedes had already progressed this year in F1, the director did not give an exact answer. “I couldn’t quote all the numbers, and it’s probably worth doing that exercise and then checking it. Ultimately, I think we tried to have strong development for the first race starting from winter testing,” he began.

“Then, in almost every race, we had a small step forward here and there, and then another big step forward in Canada. We always try to bring small evolutions here and there at each race. Of course, we saw teams bringing more new things than us, which is great for them, but we also continue to try to bring some items at each stage,” he continued.
“Probably, after the shutdown period, we will try to focus on bringing something more significant to the car. Therefore, we are clearly focused on trying to develop the car at each event, but also on thinking more broadly, bringing a new evolutionary step to the vehicle,” he concluded.
