Max Verstappen gave an update on his future in Formula 1 and the elements needed for him to continue with Red Bull, which he called “like a second family”.

The four-time champion has been in the spotlight in recent weeks and what the next steps in the sport would be. Despite having a contract with the Austrian team until the end of 2028, rumors indicate a departure at the end of 2026, with a possible move to McLaren among the few available options.
In the last round, at Spa-Francorchamps, he achieved his second podium of the F1 season and acknowledged that things are moving in a more positive direction, despite recognizing that competitors’ updates could change the scenario.
“Yes, I think we’re just trying to understand the basics of the car. Sometimes, performance has been a bit more predictable. Sometimes we still have some issues to resolve, but the trend is towards evolution. So, I think it’s always good to see that,” he said.

“But, at the same time, you have to wait and see when others will bring big updates, because sometimes you have a good weekend and, in another, someone comes up with an update that yields two or three tenths, and everything looks a bit different again. So, we really have to take it one race at a time,” he added.
Asked about which elements are important for him to stay at Red Bull, the Dutchman explained that “feeling good. And, for my part, I feel good. I say there’s nothing to declare because nothing is happening. So, for me, the focus is just trying to extract the maximum from the car. And, as I was explaining before, that’s already something complex enough to deal with. Yes, that’s all I’m doing.”
“I mean, this team is like a second family to me, you know? And we’re just trying to understand our car better and, of course, get back to winning. But we came close one weekend. I hope, of course, that this happens more often than just once. But, as I said before, we are definitely on an evolutionary trajectory. So, that’s good,” he concluded.
