Hyiu Yamakoshi won a tumultuous Sprint on Saturday (6), valid for the second round of the 2026 Formula 3 season, held on the street circuit of Monte Carlo, Monaco. The Van Amersfoort driver started from pole position and maintained the lead throughout the race, which was time-limited and featured a long red flag period after a start-line accident.

Second place went to Gerrard Xie, the DAMS driver who pressured Yamakoshi throughout, without managing to overtake. The podium was completed by Bruno del Pino, the Van Amersfoort driver who overtook Pedro Clerot on a restart, securing third position. The Brazilian from Rodin Motorsport crossed the finish line in fourth, while Alessandro Giusti completed the top-5 with an MP Motorsport car.
Noah Stromsted, with a Trident car, was the sixth fastest, ahead of Ugo Ugochukwu, seventh with Campos Racing. Jin Nakamura, from Hitech, was eighth, followed by two ART Grand Prix drivers: Maciej Gladysz, in ninth, and Kanato Le, who closed the points zone in tenth position. Fernando Barrichello climbed 11 positions with the AIX Racing car and finished 19th.
The race featured Safety Car interventions. Right on the first lap, several cars found themselves at Loews, with Christian Ho and Brad Benavides crashing at that point. Tuukka Taponen, in turn, stopped inside the tunnel with car problems after causing a collision at the slowest corner of the circuit. Brando Badoer also retired from the race. Shortly after, race control deployed a red flag, interrupting the competition.
After the restart, the race saw a Safety Car intervention after Freddie Slater hit Ernesto Rivera at the Monaco circuit’s hairpin. The Trident driver was then hit by Theóphile Nael. All three managed to return to the race, albeit at the back of the pack, but Slater was penalized ten seconds for causing a collision. A Virtual Safety Car also occurred due to debris on the track.
