Saturday (20) of the 50th event in the history of TCR South America, at the Autódromo Internacional de Cuiabá (MT), had Argentine driver Néstor Girolami as one of its protagonists. The driver won Race 1 of the stage marked by his consistent and strategic performance.

After the victory, Néstor Girolami highlighted the evolution throughout the weekend and the importance of execution on track to achieve the result: “I am very happy, today was a great day. I had already been getting very good times throughout the championship. I achieved a podium in Cascavel, but I was still missing that final speed, because the level is very high and all the drivers are always very strong in the races. I started very well, also restarted well, and managed to impose my pace. I was managing the tires a bit, so radio communication was very important to control the tire temperature and the difference to the others. It really was a great day, the pace was very good.”
The Argentine also detailed the initial difficulties of the race and how adapting to track conditions was decisive for the victory. “Personally, I am very happy with this victory. Pole position yesterday, victory today. A great team effort to achieve this result. The conditions were a bit difficult in the first laps, the track was a bit wet in sector 2, so it was necessary to understand the lines because it was very easy to lock the tires and go too far. But, after we found the braking points and the ideal lines, the race was always under control. In the end, we took good care of the tires to avoid any problems and that’s why Leo (Pernía) got a bit closer.”

The next stage of TCR South America will be held at the Autódromo Velocitta, in Mogi Guaçu, on July 25 and 26, marking the final stretch of the season in Brazil. Afterwards, the championship continues to Argentina and Uruguay.
