Néstor Girolami is making his return to the South American motorsport scene with Hyundai’s project in TCR South America. The team, which started operations this year, already leads the teams’ championship and also the drivers’ championship precisely with Girolami. However, the Argentine driver does not feel pressure to win the title.

The Argentine competed in the TCR World Tour and achieved podiums and victories, notably in 2022, when he was runner-up. His performance led him to become a reference for his compatriots. He currently races with young drivers on South American soil. Girolami spoke about how he is dealing with the new phase during a press conference this Saturday (25), at the Interlagos Racetrack, with the presence of F1MANIA.NET and other media outlets.
“It’s been a very different season. It’s a great motivation to return to racing in South America with Hyundai. We fought for many victories in 2025 in the TCR World Tour and were champions with the team in 2024. I helped in these processes, last year I competed for victories, won the Macau round, and now I’m coming for a new challenge.”

“I don’t feel obligated to win,” he stated. “I will do my best to make this project successful. We hope to win, we really want to win, but it’s a long road: we have to develop the car, it’s different from the World Championship in terms of tires, so there’s an adaptation. It’s good that we are leading the championship, but there are many fast people on the grid, so we have a lot of work ahead of us.”
On Sunday (26), Girolami will compete, alongside Brazilian Gaetano Di Mauro, in the Super Challenge Interlagos, a one-hour double-driver race for the third round of 2026. The start is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
