Marc Márquez won this Sunday (13) the San Marino GP, the 14th round of the 2026 MotoGP season. The Ducati rider fought a good battle for the lead with Jorge Martín at the start of the race held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy, and then controlled the approach of his brother, Álex Márquez, to take the lead in the championship.

Álex Márquez, with a Gresini Ducati, was second, followed by Pedro Acosta, who completed the podium with a KTM. Fermín Aldeguer, Álex’s teammate, crossed the finish line in fourth place, while Jorge Martín, now vice-leader of the championship by tiebreak criteria, was fifth with the Aprilia.
Raúl Fernández, with a Trackhouse Aprilia, was sixth, finishing ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio, seventh with a VR46 Ducati. Enea Bastianini, with a Tech3 KTM, closed the contest in eighth place, while Luca Marini, on a Honda, and Fabio Quartararo, on a Yamaha, completed the top 10.
Marco Bezzecchi, who started from pole position with the Aprilia, and Diogo Moreira, Brazilian from LCR Honda, crashed and abandoned the race at the event held at the Italian circuit.
After the San Marino GP, Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín are tied with 274 points, with the Ducati rider having the advantage by number of wins, five against one for the Aprilia competitor. Marco Bezzecchi, also from Aprilia, is third with 241.
The MotoGP continues the 2026 season next weekend, when the Austrian GP will be held, a race scheduled for Red Bull Racing.

The start saw Marco Bezzecchi maintaining first position, followed by Marc Márquez and Jorge Martín, who advanced from fifth to third place. Fermín Aldeguer appeared in fourth, followed by Pedro Acosta. Further back, Diogo Moreira rose to 13th place. Still on the first lap, Bezzecchi suffered a heavy crash at turn 12, leaving the race.
On the second lap, Jack Miller pulled off the bike and abandoned the race, which then had Márquez leading, followed by Martín and Acosta. On the third lap, Moreira fell at turn 4, leaving the contest while running in 12th position. On the fourth lap, Álex Márquez and Acosta began to duel for third place, with the KTM rider holding the position.

Álex insisted and managed to overtake at the end of the fourth lap, while Martín stayed close to Márquez in the fight for the lead. Franco Morbidelli, in turn, served a long lap penalty and dropped to 16th position. The crashes continued and Francesco Bagnaia fell at the first corner of the circuit on the sixth lap.
On the seventh lap, Martín launched an attack on Márquez and took the lead of the race at turn 14, the slowest corner of the circuit, while Álex Márquez caught up with the leading pack a lap later. Joan Mir pulled into the pits and abandoned the race. In the fight for the lead, Martín opened eight tenths over Márquez, who began to be pressured by his brother.
After opening a second, Martín saw Márquez reduce the gap and manage to attack to regain the lead on lap 12. Álex Márquez tried an outside maneuver on the Aprilia Spaniard but did not succeed. Meanwhile, Acosta, in fourth, began to close in on the leading trio.
Álex passed Martín to take second place, while Márquez opened 1.1 seconds over his brother on lap 15. Acosta started battling for third place with the Aprilia Spaniard, managing to overtake a lap later. After seeing the Gresini rider cut the distance to less than a second, the current world champion responded, reaching 1.4 seconds ahead.
Álex Rins abandoned the race on lap 18 after pulling the Yamaha into the pits. On track, Aldeguer closed in on Martín at the same moment, and the overtake came two laps later, with the Gresini rider advancing to fourth place. Up front, Álex again closed in on Marc, in a battle between the Márquez brothers for the race lead.
While Brad Binder passed Johann Zarco to move up to 11th place, Álex Márquez caught up with Marc Márquez for good, while Acosta also began to close in on the top two. Aldeguer, in fourth, set the fastest lap of the race with five laps remaining. Martín, in fifth, was no longer closing in on the rivals.
In the midfield pack, Fabio Di Giannantonio overtook Luca Marini with three laps to go, the same moment Johann Zarco crashed with the LCR Honda. In the fight for the lead, Marc Márquez again opened half a second over his brother, while Acosta was no longer able to reduce the gap to the leaders.

Márquez went on to win, followed by Álex Márquez and Acosta.
