MotoGP: Márquez leads first free practice for the Hungarian GP

Marc Márquez was the fastest rider in the first free practice session for the Hungarian GP, the eighth round of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the session held early this Friday morning (5) at the Balaton Park circuit, the Ducati rider recorded a best lap of 1min38s626, starting the weekend in front.

Second position went to Raúl Fernández, an Aprilia rider for Trackhouse who was 0s169 slower than Márquez. Pedro Acosta, with a KTM, was third best, followed by Fermín Aldeguer, fourth with a Gresini-prepared Ducati. The top five also included Fabio Di Giannantonio, with a VR46 Ducati.

Francesco Bagnaia, Márquez’s teammate, was sixth, ahead of Ai Ogura, seventh with Trackhouse, Aprilia’s satellite team. Luca Marini, with a Honda, was eighth fastest, followed by Marco Bezzecchi, championship leader and ninth with Aprilia. Toprak Razgatlioglu, with a Pramac Yamaha, closed out the top-10.

Jorge Martín was left out of the top ten. The championship runner-up and Aprilia rider finished the practice in 12th place. Diogo Moreira, the only Brazilian on the grid of the most important category in world motorcycling, finished the practice with the 13th fastest time aboard an LCR team Honda.

From 10 am, the practice session that closes this Friday’s activities at Balaton Park will be held, and it will define the ten riders who will advance directly to Q2 of qualifying. The MotoGP schedule will continue on Saturday (6), with a free practice session at 5:10 am, qualifying at 5:50 am, and the Sprint at 10 am. The Hungarian GP will be held this Sunday, starting at 9 am.
