Inthraphuvasak hits and car catches fire during F2 training in Madrid

The Formula 2 free practice on the Madrid street circuit was marked by an accident involving Thai driver Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak. The ART Grand Prix driver hit the wall at turn 19 of the Madring during the session held on the morning of this Friday (11) and saw the car catch fire shortly after the impact. The driver was unharmed and the session was later resumed.

The accident occurred with 31 minutes remaining in the session on the Spanish capital’s circuit. The driver hit the rear against the wall after spinning, and the car immediately caught fire, with Inthraphuvasak managing to get out of the car without major problems. Until the marshals arrived at the accident site, the vehicle burned for just over two minutes.

The activity was halted for just over 27 minutes at Madring until the track was cleared and the drivers could return to the circuit to continue the training. Additionally, the race direction chose to extend the session by a few minutes so that the drivers could continue their work on the Spanish layout.

From 10 a.m., qualifying will take place to determine the starting positions for the two races of the weekend. The Sprint is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., while the main race starts at 6:25 a.m. on Sunday.
