The presence of drivers coming from other categories has boosted Formula 2, according to Joshua Dürksen. The Mercedes academy driver highlighted the impact of names like Colton Herta and Nico Varrone on the visibility and competitive level of the category.

“It has grown a lot, for sure,” he told TalkSport. “I mean, just imagine Colton Herta now coming from IndyCar to F2 [and the impact that had].” He also emphasized the internationalization of the grid: “And there are other drivers, like Nico Varrone, who came from WEC to F2, so it’s becoming more international.”
For Dürksen, who is seventh in the championship after winning the sprint in Melbourne, this exchange allows a clearer analysis of the level of F2. “I really like that, because you get a direct comparison between Formula 2 and different categories, and you see how competitive Formula 2 really is.”
The Paraguayan also highlighted the intensity of the battle: “We are one step away from F1, everyone racing here is trying to get to F1, and we will definitely give everything possible to have that chance. That means taking risks, making very difficult overtakes, defending very hard, fighting a lot. So, for sure, the races are great.”

Finally, he celebrated the growth of the category: “Of course, it’s the stepping stone to F1, but the drivers racing in F2 are already so good, so precise and so strong, that I think that surprised many people. And I love that F2 is becoming more popular, because the races are also super cool, super fun.”
In recent results, Herta scored points with a seventh place in the main race, while Varrone had a difficult weekend and did not score.
