Driver representing the Elite GP team in the German Porsche Cup, Matheus Ferreira achieved his first overall podium this Saturday (16), by finishing the first race of the third stage of the championship, held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, in third place. The result marks the first podium for a Brazilian in this category in 17 years.

The day began with qualifying sessions for the two races, in which Matheus secured second position for Saturday’s race, and fifth place on the grid for Sunday. After a hectic start and a race with few mistakes at the front pack, the owner of Porsche number 27 claimed third place, securing the podium and his fourth top-5 in five races this year.
“I am very happy with today’s result. I was second in the first qualifying and fifth in the other timed session. We knew we had potential since yesterday. And my first overall podium came with a third place, which gives me an incredible feeling. I can only thank the team and my family,” said Matheus Ferreira right after the race.

“The car was very good. It was a tough race because no one made mistakes, and that makes overtaking more difficult. The first podium takes some pressure off trying to run at the front. I think now the results will come more naturally. We will aim for another podium tomorrow,” added the only Brazilian on the grid.
The race that closes the third stage of the German Porsche Cup will be held this Sunday, with the start scheduled for 6:25 AM, broadcast on YouTube.
