Laurent Mekies assessed Red Bull’s performance progress at the Miami Grand Prix of Formula 1. The Austrian team’s boss acknowledged that the team is still not where it aims to be, despite the progress, and that it will extract more from its package.

The start of the championship was almost miserable for the team, with Max Verstappen unable to finish in the top five in the first three races. However, in the USA, the Milton Keynes team brought the first upgrade package and already took a significant step forward in the season.
When evaluating the progress shown in Miami, the manager highlighted that Red Bull was not enough to fight for the win, but stated that a place on the podium, if staying within the top 5, was realistic.

“[Our pace] was not strong enough for 1st and 2nd places, but maybe it put us in the fight for 3rd, 4th, and 5th places. So, again, some things we had not shown until now this season, and it is a merit of Milton Keynes to take such an important step. Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t get everything we wanted, so, speaking for ourselves, there is more we want to extract from our package, and we are aware that the development race will continue and the competition will bring news in the next race.”
