Japanese driver Hiyu Yamakoshi was disqualified from the Sprint race of the second round of the 2026 Formula 3 season, held early this Saturday morning (6). The Van Amersfoort driver had won the race held on the street circuit in Monte Carlo, Monaco, but the car failed the post-race technical inspection, with the penalty being declared hours later.

According to the stewards, Yamakoshi’s car had its front suspension bars swapped, with the right side mounted on the left and vice-versa. This infringed articles 1.5.3. and 17.1 of the 2026 Formula 3 technical regulations. Thus, the Japanese driver was disqualified from this Saturday’s race.
Gerrard Xie, DAMS driver, was promoted to first place and inherits the victory in Monaco, with Bruno Del Pino, Yamakoshi’s teammate, advancing to second place. Brazilian Pedro Clerot, from Rodin Motorsport, moves up to third place and thus achieves his first podium in his debut season in Formula 3.

The Monaco round will conclude this Sunday (7) with the main race, scheduled for 2:55 AM.
