Vice-leader of the Formula 2 championship after two rounds, Rafael Câmara faces a new challenge in his career this weekend. For the first time, the Ferrari Driver Academy member will race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, in the Canadian city of Montreal, which hosts the third double round of the championship.

The Invicta Racing driver, current Formula 3 champion, has two podiums in four races, both achieved in main races. Câmara recalls that the work in the season is done race by race, knows that the championship is long, and sees himself in a good position for the rest of the year, which will have a total of 14 rounds.
“The first year mainly serves for the team and me to get to know our work, but at the same time we only have one year. And we are already in May. We will work race by race, always focusing on the next step. It is a long season and anything can happen, so we will take one step at a time and learn what we can. We are in a good position in the season,” said Câmara, who is tied with Gabriele Minì in second place and just one point behind Nikola Tsolov.
Just like for the Miami round, the Brazilian worked on the simulator for this weekend’s Canadian double round. During the stint in the United States, Câmara finished the main race in third place and set the fastest lap of the race, which he led for part of the event, giving him confidence for another strong round in Montreal.

“I worked a lot on the simulator, just to get to know the track and make sure that when the practice sessions start, we know which direction to take with the car setup. Since no one has been on these tracks, I think we are all in the same situation. Maybe it is an advantage that everyone starts from the same point. We will prepare as best as possible and find the best setup for qualifying and be in the right place,” Câmara adds.
F2 starts its schedule on Friday, when it holds the only free practice of the weekend and qualifying, scheduled for 3 p.m. The Sprint is set for 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, while the main race takes place on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Sportv and F1TV broadcast the entire schedule live.
