Before the race started in Zandvoort, heavy rain fell in the circuit area. As a result, the asphalt was wet in some spots but dry in others, with the competitors opting to start on slick tires.
So, the race started in the Netherlands and the four-time Red Bull champion even lost positions. What happened was that at the start of the second lap, he hit a small puddle on the track, lost control of the car, and crashed hard into the protective wall.

As a result, his car was heavily damaged, making it impossible to continue the race. Fortunately, he soon said on the radio that he was fine, exiting the RB22 on his own.
