Lando Norris will start from pole position in the Formula 1 Hungarian GP. In Saturday’s qualifying (25), the Briton achieved the best lap in the final moments to secure the pole position for the first time in 2026.

Things were quite tight at Hungaroring. In the final moments, a simple yellow flag was caused by Max Verstappen, and at that moment, it was Lewis Hamilton who was in the first position on the timing sheet.
However, almost at the checkered flag, the McLaren driver overtook his Ferrari rival by just 0.012s to take pole, becoming the first non-Mercedes driver and getting ahead this year in F1.
“Very, very happy. Very happy to be back on top. It was a difficult qualifying; the Ferrari guys were very fast and the battle was tight all weekend. We brought some updates; it’s hard to know exactly how much they help, but today they helped,” he said.

“Honestly, I felt confident all day. We’ve done a good job and the car has been behaving well. I’m very pleased for the team. There’s more big work to be done tomorrow,” he continued.
“I mean, I’m in the best position, but they make good starts and have been fast all season, so I expect a tough race. They did Q1 on medium tires, so I’m curious to see which tire they will start on,” he concluded.
