Lewis Hamilton narrowly missed out on pole position for the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix. In Saturday’s qualifying (25th), the Ferrari driver saw Lando Norris overtake him in the final moments, thus starting from second place.

The seven-time champion had been the fastest in the final phase of qualifying. Almost in the final seconds, he held the pole position with 1min17s219, but the current champion surpassed him by just 0s012, pushing him to second.
“First of all, congratulations to Lando for an excellent lap. I felt like I performed well during qualifying, but for some reason… We went out first — which I didn’t think was the right decision — and the grip just wasn’t there for me and Charles [Leclerc],” said Hamilton.

“I think tomorrow will be a tough day. We were the fastest during qualifying, so we let that opportunity slip away,” he concluded.
