Ferrari held a filming day in Monza that could be decisive for the remainder of the Formula 1 season. Even with mileage limited by regulations, the team took advantage of the approximately 200 km allowed to test a series of updates on the SF-26, according to the international portal GPblog.

Monegasque Charles Leclerc was the first to take to the track with the updated car, while seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton took the wheel in the afternoon. Confirmed changes include a new front wing, floor revisions, and the return of the so-called “macarena” wing.
Aerodynamic elements also reappeared at the base of the halo, designed to improve airflow around the cockpit and generate gains at high speed. On the other hand, there were no changes to the power unit. The team awaits ADUO verification, which may release an extra update if the engine is up to 4% below the main competitor, considered to be Mercedes’.

The activity in Monza takes place after the Formula 1 shutdown caused by the conflict in the Middle East, which led to the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian GPs, with no confirmed return to the calendar yet. During the break, Ferrari also continued development with tests in Mugello and a session in Fiorano with Pirelli.
