Max Verstappen was faced with a difficult choice regarding his future. The Red Bull Racing driver stated that he prefers to win his fifth Formula 1 title over winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This statement comes amidst a complicated start to the season for the Dutchman, who has also shown frustration with the new regulations. After three rounds in 2026, Verstappen occupies only ninth position in the drivers’ championship.
During the event ‘An Evening with Max Verstappen’, the Dutch driver was asked by presenter Frank Evenblij which achievement he would choose between a fifth F1 title or a victory at Le Mans. Despite his long-standing interest in the traditional endurance race, Verstappen was direct in his answer.

“I would always choose the fifth Formula 1 title. When I’m older, I can still compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That fifth title becomes more difficult,” said the four-time champion. The driver had previously expressed a desire to compete in the iconic long-distance race, even mentioning the possibility of sharing a car with Fernando Alonso.
Despite his preference for the Formula 1 title, Verstappen acknowledged that the current season does not present good prospects for him or Red Bull Racing: “It’s not going to happen this season,” concluded the Dutchman.
