Johann Zarco injured the knee of his left leg in the accident suffered at the restart of the Catalonia GP, the sixth round of the 2026 MotoGP season, held this Sunday (17) at the Barcelona Circuit, in Spain. The Frenchman, LCR Honda rider, tore ligaments and had a small fracture, and is expected to miss some rounds in the continuation of the championship.

The incident occurred in the initial meters of the race restart after the accident suffered by Álex Márquez, who suffered fractures in a vertebra and the clavicle. Zarco missed the braking point and collided with the motorcycles of Francesco Bagnaia and Luca Marini. When falling, the Frenchman got stuck to the Italian’s Ducati, injuring his leg.
Attended on the track, the rider complained of pain in his left leg, being initially taken to the circuit’s medical center and then to the hospital, where the injuries were confirmed. Zarco posted a video on social media, where he says the accident “was just a scare.”

“Stay calm, I am still waiting for the test results. I am wearing a cervical collar, but it bothers me more than anything else. And especially the knee, because it was the ligaments that were torn, but there is no fracture in the femur. There is a small fracture in the lower part of the fibula, on the outer part of the left ankle,” Zarco explained.
The race was won by Fabio Di Giannantonio, who was involved in the accident between Márquez and Acosta. The MotoGP continues on May 31 with the Italian GP, in Mugello.
