Juan Manuel Casella is confirmed by Uruguay Racing Team in TCR South America

Uruguay Racing Team has confirmed Juan Manuel Casella as the second driver for its team for the 2026 TCR South America season. The Uruguayan joins compatriot Joaquín Cafaro and brings with him a consolidated career in the category.

Casella returns to one of the models he tested in the early years of the TCR concept, the Peugeot 308 GTI TCR. The driver has 51 races in the category, which places him among the five competitors with the most participations. Furthermore, his victories in Buenos Aires and Termas de Río Hondo in 2024 and the sequence of podiums achieved place him in fourth position among the drivers with the most points in the specialty, totaling 1037.

Casella’s trajectory in South American motorsport is marked by varied experiences. He debuted in 2021 with a Honda Civic Type R FK2, began competing with the Peugeot 308 TCR in 2022 and, in 2023 and 2024, raced for Squadra Martino, driving first the Honda Civic Type R FK7 and, later, the latest generation model, Honda Civic Type R FL5. His last participation in the category was at the El Pinar round in 2025, guiding a Cupra León VZ from W2 Pro GP. In addition to his career in touring cars, Casella also stands out in rallying, a modality in which he won the National Champion title with a Peugeot 208.

The Uruguayan team will be led by the experienced Enrique Cadenas and debuts in the category on March 7 and 8, in Curvelo, Minas Gerais (Brazil). URT’s plan is to maintain a 100% Uruguayan structure. All three drivers will participate in the pre-season tests in Concordia, Entre Ríos (Argentina), on February 23.
