Câmara had already shown strength in the only free practice of the weekend, when he placed himself among the top ten fastest. In qualifying, the Ferrari Driver Academy member initially placed himself in second position, and nailed a good lap in the final moments to secure pole position for Sunday’s race on the 7,004-meter circuit.
“I wasn’t sure if it would be wet or dry, but after that it made our life a bit easier, the rain stopped; so from there, it was just about doing the basics well and preparing things. And also on the second lap, it was just about adjusting the setup a bit to ensure good balance and a clean lap afterwards,” said Rafael Câmara right after qualifying.
“It was a bit confusing also with the red flag, I think everyone, or some drivers, did a full lap. So, yes, it was a bit complicated to come back and try again. You go through turns 1 and 5 without DRS, so you need to push a bit more in sector 2. We know we need to gain time. It certainly wasn’t easy, but we did well and managed to do a good lap afterwards,” Câmara continued.

“I hope that this Sunday we get a clean start and can move forward with a calm race. So, I’m looking forward to the races. And I hope that tomorrow we can also have a good race and a good weekend,” the Brazilian added.
After qualifying, Formula 2 will have the two races of the weekend. The Sprint starts at 9:15 AM on Saturday, while the main race will be held at 5 AM on Sunday. Sportv, Globoplay, and YouTube will broadcast the double round.
