After securing second position on the grid in qualifying held on Friday, Câmara took advantage of one of the Safety Car neutralizations to visit the pits and change tires, taking the lead after competitors who extended the first stint went for their pit stop. In the final part, the Brazilian found himself in a tough battle for victory and crossed the finish line in second place in a time-limited race with five laps fewer than planned.

“Being on the podium was the best we could have done today. The battles were very intense, and it was not easy to stay on track with so little grip at the end. But yes, I had some good battles, fortunately without accidents,” said Rafael Câmara, right after the end of this morning’s race in the United States.

“It was a tough race, so the idea was to maintain position. Before the pit stop, there were Safety Car entries, so we tried to keep position. In the second stint, we started well, but I knew about the tire overheating problem. In the first stint, we tried to understand how the tires were working to manage them better in the second stint, but I think I pushed a bit too much and had overheating, especially at the rear,” Câmara added.

The next round of the 2026 Formula 2 season will be held on May 22, 23, and 24, at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, in Montreal, Canada.
