Sergio Pérez gave his view on the quality of the battles seen at the Formula 1 Belgian GP, as well as reflecting on the new era of the category, saying that there is still a lot of work to be done to put the sport where it should be.

Last week’s race at Spa-Francorchamps exposed problems with battery issues, with several drivers suffering from clipping on the circuit’s long straights. Furthermore, the charge proved insufficient to ensure the full supply of electrical energy for a complete lap.
Speaking about the Belgian F1 round, Checo said that Spa is no longer suitable for the current generation of Formula 1. “I think Spa, at this moment and with the current regulations, is not a good place for F1, to be honest. What I saw was not Formula 1. I don’t want to dwell on the subject, but it definitely wasn’t pleasant,” he said.

“To be honest, it’s very difficult to understand these regulations. So, until these planned changes are tested in a simulator… and, obviously, nothing has been finalized yet,” he continued.
“To be fair, F1 and the FIA have taken a huge step, you know, from the beginning of the year to where we are now. But, obviously — I mean, at Spa —, there was nothing to hide; it was all there. And what we saw simply isn’t Formula 1, and we all have to face that. And that wasn’t enough,” he concluded.
