Álex Márquez was the fastest rider in the first free practice for the English GP, the 12th round of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the session that opened the weekend’s activities this Friday (7), at the Silverstone circuit, the Gresini Ducati rider recorded 1min58s692 on his best lap, not being surpassed by the rivals.

The second position went to Marco Bezzecchi, an Aprilia rider who was beaten by Álex by 0.173 seconds. Pedro Acosta, from KTM, was third, followed by Raúl Fernández, fourth with an Aprilia from Trackhouse. The top five group also included Fabio Di Giannantonio, fifth with a Ducati from VR46.
Marc Márquez, from Ducati, closed the training with the sixth best time, followed by Ai Ogura, championship runner-up and seventh with an Aprilia from Trackhouse. MotoGP leader Jorge Martín, from Aprilia, was the eighth fastest, followed by Franco Morbidelli, ninth with the Ducati from VR46. Francesco Bagnaia, from Ducati, was tenth, and Diogo Moreira was 19th with the LCR Honda.

The MotoGP schedule at Silverstone will continue this Friday, starting at noon, with the session that will define the ten riders directly qualified for Q2 of the classification. The English GP will be held this Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.
