David Almansa won the Thailand GP in agonizing fashion, the race that opened the 2026 Moto3 season. In one of the closest races at the Buriram circuit, the Intact GP rider engaged in a great battle with Máximo Quiles, and won in the early hours of this Sunday (1) by a difference of just 0s003 at the finish line.

The decisive moment of the race occurred at the last corner of the last lap. Quiles, on an Aspar bike, managed to overtake Almansa for the lead, but ran wide and allowed his opponent to pull alongside him. In the end, the clock showed Almansa ahead by three thousandths, securing the victory and relegating Quiles to second place.
Argentine Valentín Perrone completed the podium in third place with a Tech3 bike, finishing just ahead of Álvaro Carpe, who was fourth at the end of the race with Ajo. The top five group in Buriram also included Veda Pratama, an Indonesian rider competing for Team Asia.

Adrián Fernández, with a bike prepared by Leopard Racing, crossed the finish line in sixth place, ahead of Brian Uriarte, seventh with Ajo. The top ten group in Thailand also included Marco Morelli, an Aspar rider, Joel Esteban from MTA, and David Muñoz from Intact GP.
Moto3 will have the second round of the 2026 season on March 20, 21, and 22, with the Brazilian GP, a race scheduled for the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia (GO).
