F3: Pedro Clerot takes the lead at the start and wins in Madrid

Brazilian Pedro Clerot won on Saturday (12) the first main race of the last stage of the 2026 Formula 3 season, held at Madring, a circuit set up on the streets of Madrid, Spain. The Brazilian from Rodin Motorsport started from second position and took the lead in the initial meters, fending off attacks from rivals to win for the first time in the category.

Second place went to Taito Kato, an ART Grand Prix driver who could not keep up with Clerot’s pace. Tuukka Taponen, with an MP Motorsport car, completed the podium in third place, followed by Ugo Ugochukwu, fourth with a Campos Racing car. Jin Nakamura, from Hitech, rounded out the top five.

Alessandro Giusti, a driver for MP Motorsport, finished the race in sixth position, just ahead of Alex Powell, seventh with Prema. Ernesto Rivera, from Campos Racing, took eighth place, while Théophile Nael, his teammate and winner of the Sprint this morning, was ninth. James Wharton, from Prema, completed the top 10.

The race featured a red flag deployment after an accident on the opening lap closed the track. The incident occurred after Bruno del Pino and Enzo Deligny, teammates at Van Amersfoort, collided. A little further back, Maciej Gladysz took off with the ART Grand Prix car. The accident also involved José Garfias, from Prema, Woohyun Shin, from ART Grand Prix, and Fernando Barrichello, from AIX Racing.

Noah Stomsted and Fionn McLaughlin were also involved in the incident that caused the race stoppage in the Spanish capital, but managed to bring their cars back to the pits. Later, during the completion of lap 9, Freddie Slater, then championship leader, hit the wall and caused the Safety Car deployment in the Spanish capital.
