Rafael Câmara won the main race of the eighth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season this Sunday (19), held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The Invicta Racing driver started from pole position, briefly lost the lead at the start of the race, but recovered and finished the time-limited race in first place. It is the Brazilian’s second victory of the year.

Second place went to Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, an ART Grand Prix driver who took the lead on the opening lap and benefited from a penalty against Alexander Dunne to finish just behind Câmara. Nikola Tsolov, driving a Campos Racing car, was third, benefiting from penalties against Dunne and Noel León, both for track limits.
Dunne, driving for Rodin Motorsport, finished fourth, followed by Gabriele Mini, fifth with MP Motorsport. Rafael Villagómez, from Van Amersfoort, finished sixth, just ahead of penalized León, seventh with Campos Racing. Colton Herta, Ritomo Miyata, both Hitech drivers, and Mari Boya, from Prema, completed the top 10 and the points zone.
The race saw the deployment of the Safety Car. On the very first lap, Dino Beganovic stalled on the track after his car failed to start, while Oliver Goethe, from MP Motorsport, stopped just after the first corner. Gabriele Mini touched Roman Bilinski, who spun, while Sebastian Montoya damaged his front wing.

On lap 8, Laurens van Hoepen crashed, causing another neutralization. Shortly after, the red flag was shown for track cleanup and barrier repairs. There was a 22-minute interruption, and the race was switched to a time-based format instead of a lap count.
On lap 13, with 16 minutes remaining, Emmo Fittipaldi stopped in the gravel after a battle with Alexander Dunne. Unable to return to the track, race control was forced to deploy the Safety Car once again, neutralizing the race for the third time.
Formula 2 will continue next weekend with the ninth round of the championship, scheduled for the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary.
