A series of penalties will shake up the starting grid for the races of the third round of the Formula 2 championship, held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. The penalties were announced on the evening of this Friday (22) and four drivers will lose positions in both the Sprint and the main race: Rafael Câmara, Alexander Dunne, Oliver Goethe, and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak.

Second best in this afternoon’s qualifying, Câmara will lose three positions on the grids of both races after disrupting a fast lap by Dunne in qualifying. Thus, the Brazilian from Invicta drops from second to fifth place on the Sunday race grid, and falls from ninth to 12th in the Sprint this Saturday.
Dunne, in turn, will also lose three positions on the grids of both races. The Rodin Motorsport driver, who was third in qualifying, disrupted a lap by Rafael Villagómez, a driver representing Van Amersfoort. Thus, in the main race, the Irishman will start from sixth position, while in the Sprint, the driver starts 11th.
Goethe, a driver for MP Motorsport, and Inthraphuvasak, from ART Grand Prix, caused red flags during qualifying. Both hit the protective barrier at turn 4 of the Canadian circuit and, as punishment, lost their best laps. Thus, the Thai driver drops from 15th to 20th on the grids of both races, while the German drops from 19th to 21st on the grids.

The races will take place starting this Saturday (23), first with the Sprint, scheduled for 15:10. The main race is scheduled for Sunday at 13:05.
