Alexander Dunne was the fastest driver in the only free practice session for the tenth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season. In the activity held on the morning of this Friday (4) at the Monza National Autodrome, Italy, the Rodin Motorsport driver and current fourth in the championship recorded his best lap time of 1min31s957.

Second place went to Oliver Goethe, MP Motorsport driver who was 0.170 seconds slower than Dunne. Nico Varrone, who races for Van Amersfoort, was the third fastest, followed by Nikola Tsolov, championship leader and fourth with Campos Racing. Roman Bilinski, with DAMS, completed the list of the five fastest.
Joshua Durksen, from Invicta Racing, finished sixth, just ahead of Martinius Stenshorne, seventh fastest with Rodin Motorsport. Noel León, from Campos Racing, was eighth best, with Rafael Câmara, Brazilian from Invicta, in ninth. Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, from ART Grand Prix, completed the top 10.
Second in the championship after nine rounds, Gabriele Mini was only 14th with a car prepared by MP Motorsport. Meanwhile, Emmo Fittipaldi, the other Brazilian on the Formula 2 grid this season, ended the session with the 16th best time with AIX Racing.

The session featured a red flag with 17 minutes remaining. Colton Herta crashed the Hitech-prepared car into the barrier at turn 7 of the Italian circuit, forcing the training to be stopped.
From 9:55 am, qualifying will take place to determine the starting positions for the two races of the weekend. The Sprint starts at 9:15 am this Saturday, while the main race is scheduled for 4:45 am this Sunday.
