Williams continues aggressively behind the scenes in Formula 1 and announced another reinforcement coming from Mercedes. The team confirmed the hiring of Claire Simpson, expanding the recent move to attract talent from the competing team.

This arrival reinforces the team’s technical growth plan, which seeks to accelerate its development. It is the second big name coming from Mercedes in a few months, indicating a clear strategic shift by the Grove team.
Simpson, who worked for more than a decade at the German team as group aerodynamics leader, now takes on the role of head of aerodynamic development at Williams. Her first day was precisely on the Friday of the Miami GP, marking the immediate start of her work on the new project.

The team principal, James Vowles, highlighted the importance of the hiring and indicated that more reinforcements are on the way: “Claire Simpson joined us today, and we will make more announcements soon, there are great people coming in the next few months,” he said. She is expected to work together with the head of aerodynamics, Juan Molina.
Vowles also commented on the recent impact of another Mercedes hire, Dan Milner, now head of vehicle technology engineering: “The impact of Dan’s arrival was very significant and quick, we are following a different direction thanks to his experience,” he said. According to the manager, the team is open to changes to reach a higher competitive level and accelerate its evolution towards more significant results.
