Gunther Steiner gave a poke ‘in the form of a joke’ at Max Verstappen, saying that if the Dutchman had won the Formula 1 Canadian GP, he would suddenly become a big fan of the 2026 regulations.

The four-time world champion finished in third place in Montreal, his first podium of the championship. However, even after the positive result, the Red Bull driver again criticized the rules and reiterated the possibility of saying goodbye to the category, especially if conditions remain the same.
Speaking about the competitor on Red Flags, Steiner joked that Max’s view would change and be more positive if he had won. “Verstappen was a little happier to be on the podium. I think if he had won, he would really be happy, and these would be the best regulations ever. This is just to clarify our emotional position regarding the regulations,” he said.

“After the race, he had to come out and say: ‘I still don’t like them very much. Even if I like them a little, I still want to change the regulations.’ That’s how his politics work to change the engine regulations, because they think that if ADUO comes in, the other teams will have the opportunity to catch up with them,” he continued.
“If there is a new regulation or a change in a regulation, even if it’s not completely new, they will have the same opportunity as the others. And, again, maybe they even get more advantages to make Max happier. The important thing in Formula 1 is to make Max happy,” he concluded.
