Red Bull is going through a turbulent start to the 2026 Formula 1 season and is looking to react starting from the next round, the Miami GP. Team principal Laurent Mekies stated that the focus is now on a detailed analysis of recent performance and the search for technical solutions. According to him, the five-week break in the calendar, which began on Monday (28), will be crucial for evolution.

“We are confident that we will use this break to take a significant step forward. We need time to dive deep into our data, simulate what we observed in the wind tunnel data and in our simulator, test different sensitivities, and do all of this without racing. Does this mean that when we arrive in Miami, everything will be solved like magic? No,” explained Mekies.
Despite the optimism, the official acknowledged that there is no expectation of a complete immediate recovery. “But again, am I confident that the team will reach a full understanding and start bringing improvements as early as Miami? I think that’s what you’ll see. Only the track and lap times will indicate if we are moving in the right direction. I don’t think we should expect a miracle in terms of closing the gap, because the gap is substantial,” he added.

Mekies emphasized that the immediate goal is to return competitiveness to the car so that the drivers can better exploit its performance: “What we want to see is a car that allows our drivers to get back to pushing, measure the gap to the competition in those conditions, and then let the rest be pure development until the end of the year,” he concluded.
Red Bull returns to the track on May 3rd, at the Miami GP, the category’s first round in the United States this year.
