Racing Bulls left the Miami Formula 1 GP without scoring points, after a weekend marked by problems and an accident. The team saw Liam Lawson retire after being involved in the accident that took Pierre Gasly out of the race, following the Alpine car’s rollover.

The incident had a direct impact on the result and forced the team to make a public statement. Team principal Alan Permane apologized to Alpine and explained that a mechanical failure was the cause of the contact.
“It was a tough weekend. We apologize to Pierre and Alpine for the incident, Liam’s gearbox failed and broke fifth gear on the braking into turn 17, which caused the collision,” he said. Despite this, he highlighted that the start of the race showed potential: “The first laps were good and who knows, we might have fought for points.”
Lawson also commented on the problem that led to his retirement and contact with Gasly: “We had a gearbox failure, something that had never happened before, I lost control of the car and ended up touching Pierre,” he explained. The driver emphasized that he apologized to the Frenchman after the race and regretted the outcome, especially after a good start with position gains.

On the other side of the team, Arvid Lindblad finished 14th after struggling with the medium tires: “It was a complicated race with little running over the weekend. In the first stint, there was a lack of grip, but with the hard tires I felt more comfortable and the pace improved,” he concluded.
Even without points, Permane highlighted learnings and projected progress with aerodynamic updates already for the next round, the Canadian GP. The team’s expectation is to come back more competitive and fight for better results.
