McLaren’s entry into the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) has opened up new possibilities in motorsport. The team confirmed participation in 2027 and has already unveiled the Hypercar it will use at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. As a result, the current Formula 1 champion, Lando Norris, has once again shown interest in competing at Le Mans in the future.

In an interview with the team’s official YouTube channel, the Brit said: “I still feel like I want to go and try other things. Do Le Mans, now that McLaren is participating in Le Mans, so maybe I’ll do that at some point. But I don’t know. I’m still young, so I haven’t thought about everything yet. But, you know, in the future, I hope to have kids, that they get into motorsport or something like that, and then I can relive that story.”
McLaren CEO Zak Brown stated that he has already discussed the possibility with Norris and also with Oscar Piastri, highlighting that both have shown interest in racing at Le Mans with the team. Despite this, the only driver confirmed for McLaren’s 2027 project so far is Mikkel Jensen.

Meanwhile, Norris remains focused on the Formula 1 season, where he is fourth in the championship, 49 points behind leader Kimi Antonelli, ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
