McLaren left the Hungaroring with more questions than answers this Friday. Lando Norris acknowledged that the team had a complicated day and admitted that they still don’t have enough pace to catch the rivals who are currently ahead.

Even with the challenging scenario, the British driver highlighted that there was evolution between the two sessions of the day. According to Norris, the work carried out throughout Friday allowed for the identification of some advances, even though the team is far from extracting the maximum performance from the car for the Formula 1 Hungarian GP.
One of McLaren’s main points of attention is related to the novelties introduced this weekend. The Briton explained that the team is still analyzing the behavior of the new components and looking for the best way to adjust them to the characteristics of the Budapest circuit.
“It was a complicated day, not the easiest two sessions for us. Although we took a step forward this afternoon, we still have work to do,” Norris stated when evaluating the team’s performance after the activities.

The competitor emphasized that the expectation is for gradual progress, without imagining an immediate change in the competitive landscape: “We introduced some updates to the car today, and we need to understand them a little better and figure out how to make them work optimally. We know we won’t immediately catch the guys ahead of us, so we need to keep working hard,” he added.
Even without hiding the difficulties, Norris believes that McLaren is advancing in important aspects of the technical package brought to the Hungarian GP: “We are taking steps in the right direction in some areas. We will work hard overnight to get more out of this package and see what we can do tomorrow,” he concluded, demonstrating confidence that the team will be able to present a better performance in the next activities of the weekend.
