Arvid Lindblad discovered a new interest last weekend. After experiencing a World Rally Championship (WRC) car as a passenger during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the young Racing Bulls driver revealed that he intends to compete in the discipline in the future. The 18-year-old Brit took a lap with driver Jon Armstrong and shared how the experience was:

“It was my first time doing something like that. We drove really fast, but I had never… (laughs). I wouldn’t say I was scared, but I was definitely out of my comfort zone, I was quite surprised. It was simply amazing to experience it, it’s so different from what we’re used to, and to get a sense of what these guys do, it’s so different and so much fun.”
“It’s something I’ve been getting to know more, actually I’ve recently grown fond of rally and it’s something I would really like to pursue when I finish my current commitments. So, definitely, after having my first taste of it, I have more appreciation for what these guys do, because the onboard camera doesn’t really show it properly. It’s amazing, it’s so fast, it’s so close to the trees, the hedges, it’s quick and it’s really impressive.”

The statement comes at a time when Red Bull already needs to manage Max Verstappen’s plans to compete in GT3 endurance races. Now, Lindblad also shows interest in following another path in motorsport when he finishes his current commitments.
In Formula 1, the Racing Bulls driver is having a consistent rookie season. He is currently 11th in the championship, with 20 points.
