The future of the four-time world champion had been the subject of debate for months whether he would continue with the Austrian team, change teams, or even retire from the category, since he has been one of the main critics of the new regulations.
Speaking about the renewal process and staying in F1, Jos explained what influenced his son’s decision. “It’s not so much about having a say or exerting influence,” he told Playsport.

“I think the issue is restoring calm. Max also feels very good at Red Bull. They have been with him since the beginning of his career, and we have walked alongside them. It seemed like the right decision to stay. We hope they become more competitive again next year and that we can fight for wins again,” he continued.
When asked about the difficulty of committing to a team that is not in its best phase, the father of the four-time F1 champion said, “It is a difficult choice, but we also know what is happening behind the scenes regarding the [Red Bull] engine. Besides, it is necessary to analyze what possibilities exist in other teams. That is why we decided to stay.”
