Lewis Hamilton faced a brake problem at the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1 and was forced to retire, ending the longest points streak of the 2026 season.

This year, the seven-time Ferrari champion managed to finish in the top 10 in all 13 rounds of the calendar before Madring. However, in Madrid, the Briton had to retire in the early laps for safety reasons as the brakes were not working properly.
With this, Lewis ended the highest number of consecutive races in the points zone. The one taking over now in the Formula 1 season is Lando Norris, who finished in the top 10 in the last eight races of the championship.

“I had a good start, I didn’t see Max and I wasn’t in the fight when approaching Turn 5. But when entering Turn 5, I pressed the brake and it started braking well; then, the pedal gave way and suddenly the car wouldn’t stop anymore,” said Hamilton.
“I ended up going off the racing line and that’s when I touched the barrier, but the crash didn’t seem strong, it wasn’t a violent impact. F1: Then, the pedal returned to normal and worked well in the following turns; things seemed to be under control, but then the pedal went ‘long’ again,” he concluded.
