Nico Hülkenberg shared his impressions of the new Formula 1 regulations in 2026. The Audi driver pointed out how energy management can be both fun and frustrating at the same time.

Competitors have been quite critical of the category’s new cars. After three races, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, for example, made references to Mario Kart when explaining their experiences, while Lando Norris has also said he doesn’t have fun during races.
And while Lewis Hamilton has shown himself to be one of the defenders of the new regulations, Hülkenberg was in the middle ground. “With this energy issue, in a way, it’s interesting and fun, but at the same time, it’s also strange and frustrating,” he said.

“You make the overtake, but you have to choose your battles well, and it’s very easy to overdo it and suffer a big loss of power, becoming vulnerable. Sometimes, the top speeds are really immense. So, I don’t know. The race was probably fun on TV, there was probably a lot going on, but it’s different,” he concluded.
