James Hinchcliffe was another who gave his opinion about Aston Martin, saying he believes the team’s patience will soon be rewarded in Formula 1, especially after the big update package presented at the Hungarian GP.

The Silverstone team faced a very difficult start to the 2026 season with the new regulations. At the Hungaroring, they arrived in tenth place in the Constructors’ Championship, ahead only of the newcomer Cadillac – but an aerodynamic update introduced in Budapest showed a glimmer of hope.
“If you look at the history and statistics, there is no one better at this than Adrian Newey, and that was exactly what Lawrence Stroll sought to achieve. This was the dream team he wanted. He went after the best in the business. Honda, obviously, got off on the wrong foot under this regulation,” said Hinchcliffe on F1TV.

“They have an update on the way. We know the capability of this group; they have won many championships, and recently. So, I mean, it was certainly a tough start, but patience and hard work can end up paying off. I believe they can start scoring regularly until the end of the season,” he added.
At the Hungarian GP, Fernando Alonso advanced to Q2 for the first time. Although neither of the two drivers scored points, both the Spaniard and Lance Stroll crossed the finish line inside the top 15.
