Lewis Hamilton caused a new red flag during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend of Formula 1. In the third free practice held this Saturday (12), the driver crashed head-on into the wall, damaging both the SF-26 and the protective barrier.

Madring is debuting on the F1 calendar at this stage. Host of the 14th round of the 2026 season, the circuit’s characteristics are prone to accidents and crashes – during F3 tests last month, no less than 11 red flags over two days.
So, the first red flag interruption in F1 happened already on Friday, 11, in FP2, when Arvid Linblad hit the protective wall hard. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed and managed to get out without problems, but his car was heavily damaged.

Now, it was the turn of the seven-time world champion to cause a red flag in Madring. Still in the first half of the third session of the Spanish GP of F1, with just over 37 minutes remaining, the Brit lost the front of the car in the final corner and crashed, but managed to reverse and continue on the track, damaging the front wing.
Immediately on the radio, Ferrari instructed the driver to stop where it was safest to avoid further damage to the car.
