The debate gained more momentum after last Sunday’s (29) Japanese GP. Drivers like Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso, and Carlos Sainz raised concerns about the current technical regulations, especially regarding the role of the battery. Among the criticisms are the perception that overtaking has become artificial and the risk generated by the so-called “super clipping,” cited as a factor in dangerous situations, such as Oliver Bearman’s accident in Suzuka. Despite the pressure, the drivers will not participate directly in the meeting on the 9th.
Among the teams, however, there is no unanimity. Some of them understand that the spectacle remains attractive to the public, which reduces the need for radical changes. Information indicates that Mercedes and Ferrari, for example, do not support a broad overhaul at this time. It was also denied that the FIA has internally changed its position to align with the drivers.

The long-term scenario, on the other hand, opens space for more significant changes. One of the ideas involves increasing the fuel flow, raising the performance of the internal combustion engine. In this context, the battery would represent about a third of the power unit, a relevant transformation, but one that is still far from any definition.
