Cadillac announced an important change in its structure in Formula 1. Marcin Budkowski was appointed the new team principal, replacing Graeme Lowdon after the team’s uncompetitive start in its first season in the category.

Budkowski returns to Formula 1 after having worked as a director at Renault and Alpine, a role he left at the beginning of 2022. His arrival at Cadillac represents a new stage for the project, which now seeks to strengthen its organization and increase performance within the budget cap.
Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss highlighted the experience of the Polish engineer and explained the goal of the change: “The appointment of Marcin marks another important step in the ongoing evolution of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team,” he said, adding that the team intends to build a structure ‘capable of competing at the front’.
Towriss also thanked Lowdon for the work done during the formation of the team: “We are grateful to Graeme Lowdon for his leadership and the role he played in forming the Cadillac Formula 1 Team from the start,” the executive said, highlighting that his contribution helped establish a solid foundation during the preparation phase.

Budkowski, in turn, assessed that Cadillac has a promising structure and pointed out his priorities in the new role: “This is a moment of enormous opportunity for the team, which will be defined by a clear goal, maximizing car development within the budget cap and making every area of the team work to compete,” he said.
The new chief also highlighted the need to improve processes and speed in decision-making: “My focus will be to align our people, tools, and information flow so that the right decisions are made quickly and the car’s performance improves with each race,” he concluded.
Budkowski will officially take command of Cadillac’s track activities next race weekend, at the Dutch GP in Zandvoort, on the weekend of August 21 to 23.
